Mentor, Liz Prato (fiction, short stories)
Fri Jan 11 2013 5:00 PM - Sun Jan 13 2013 11:18 PM
Colonyhouse, Rockaway Beach, OR
Pushcart Prize nominee and author Liz Prato will be offering private one-on-one editorial consultations as part of our Mentor in the House weekend program. Writers seeking a professional eye on their short stories should consider this unique opportunity to work closely with an accomplished fiction writer.
For the weekend, Ms. Prato will live and write at the Colonyhouse, a historic log cabin on the Oregon Coast at Rockaway Beach, and will be available for personally tailored hour-long consultations with each retreat participant. In addition to plenty of time to write over the weekend, an optional Saturday night sharing allows participants to workshop their writing in a relaxed atmosphere with the mentor and other retreat-goers.
BONUS: On Saturday evening, Liz will present her popular seminar, How to Get Published in Literary Journals. This class covers the ins and outs of cover letters, targeting markets, response times and more. After this fast & fun tour, participants will be ready to charge the world of publishing. This class alone is a $50 value!
Liz Prato’s Pushcart Prize nominated stories and essays have been widely published in Hayden’s Ferry Review, Los Angeles Review, ZYZZYVA, Iron Horse Literary Review, Storyglossia and The Frozen Moment Anthology, among others. She is known as a generous and focused writing instructor, teaching at The Attic Institute, Wordstock, and Indigo Editing. When she’s not moving characters around the chessboard of the American West, Liz dreams of palm trees.

The cost of the retreat is $150 for members, and $190 for non-members. (The non-member price includes a one-year OWC membership.) This price includes shared lodging at the Colonyhouse.
