OWC Workshops and Conferences

The Oregon Writers Colony Workshop/Conference Committee was formed to support and educate aspiring and experienced writers in their quest for improved craft and artistry. OWC presents financially accessible workshops of high quality. OWC also strives to help all writers learn about the changing world of publication and how to sell themselves and their work. Our workshops and conferences promote camaraderie among writers and help you meet kindred souls.

Knowledge, experience and presentation skills are considered when we seek instructors, and we keep workshops manageable in size, striving for affordability, to give you the best possible learning experience for your money.

We cordially invite you to join our sessions. Visit our website, newsletter and OWC eBlast to stay current on what’s being presented. Members and non-members alike are welcome to participate. If you have questions, suggestions, or concerns, please contact Marlene Howard.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Mentor in the House Program

Oregon Writers Colony is introducing the new Mentor in the House program. The program will bring talented mentors to the Colonyhouse on the Oregon Coast for a series of five weekend writing retreats.

Each weekend, a mentor will live and write at the Colonyhouse, a historic log cabin on the Oregon Coast at Rockaway Beach, and will be available for personally tailored hour-long consultations with each retreat participant. In addition to plenty of time to write over the weekend, an optional Saturday night sharing allows participants to workshop their writing in a relaxed atmosphere with the mentor and other retreat-goers.

The cost of the retreats is an affordable $150, which includes shared lodging at the Colonyhouse. Participants are expected to provide their own food and bedding. A communal meal may be arranged with the consent of the mentor.

To see the list of upcoming retreats, go to Events: Mentor in the House.
