Karen Karbo will lead workshop April 25-27 at Annual Conference

Event Details

  • Date: April 25 – 27, 2014

Karen KarboNovelist, memoirist, and award-winning author of the Kick Ass Women series Karen Karbo will lead an all-day workshop at OWC’s Annual Conference, April 25-27, 2014. The conference will be held at the Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport.

The title of her workshop will be “The Way I See It: Writing Creative Nonfiction As Only You Know How.”

Creative nonfiction is the most popular genre in modern publishing. Personal essay, essay, literary journalism, immersive journalism, travel writing and memoir — no form is more far reaching, yet trickier to master. True stories are all around us, but how do you tell a compelling true-life tale? How do you make facts fascinating? How do you find what truly interests you and make it your own? This workshop will focus on helping writers identify the kind of creative nonfiction that only they can write.

Pitch to a New York agent!

As part of the Annual Conference, we’re bringing literary agent David Forrer to hear your ten-minute pitches.

David Forrer began his career in publishing in 1997 after receiving a Masters in Creative Writing (fiction) from Boston University. He has been an agent with InkWell Management since it was created in 2004. His areas of interest and representation range from literary, commercial, historical and crime fiction to suspense/thriller, humorous nonfiction and popular history.

I apparently missed the opportunity to register and stay at the conference hotel. What are our options now for registering and lodging/meals?

If a single room becomes available, I would love to have it. I am happy to pay the extra money.
    Thanks.

    Best Regards,
    Joan
