Founder's Day 07

This year’s celebration will be held in the community room at the Rockaway City Hall. in order to make it accessible for all OWC members. Invitations will be extended to writers and readers of Tillamook county to join OWC for a day of writer seminars, scheduled readings, and an open mic.

Lunch on the 16th will be available by previously purchased tickets only. Speaker is Shannon Applegate. See registration form below

Program

9:30 a.m.	Get acquainted with coffee and Zimmer Treats. If you've attended other events, you know about Bob Zimmer's goodies.
10:00 a.m.	Coastal essayist and poet, Karen Keltz, hosts the featured author readings with Lois Rosen, Jennie Shortridge and others.
Noon – 1:30 p.m.	Buffet luncheon—optional. Author, Shannon Applegate is the featured luncheon speaker. Cost is $15 a person, and requires an RSVP. Make your reservations and purchase your lunch ticket with the form enclosed in this Colonygram. Note: this is the only cost for the day.
1:30 p.m.	Author's Showcase. Authors who brought books to sell will be given an opportunity to talk about their books. Jan Paeth hosts. For information about the Author's Showcase email Jan at whiskers16@comcast.net. Authors who pre-register will have table space at the event, and should be prepared to handle their own book sales by having change available for those who prefer to pay with cash instead of check. OWC is unable to take credit card charges for author's sales.
2:30 p.m.	Writer/musician, Mitch Luckett, takes the stage to entertain with his funny stories and songs, his banjo, and guitar. Mitch moved to Washington a couple of years ago, and this is the first time we've tempted him back to Oregon to entertain us.
3:30 p.m.	Everyone is invited to visit Colonyhouse for tea, coffee and more goodies. Board members will conduct tours and answer questions about the proposed additions to make Colonyhouse accessible to all.

Want to Make a Weekend Of It? Plan to arrive in Rockaway Beach on Saturday, August 15th (make motel reservations early)

Visit the Annual Rockway Arts and Crafts Fair in the morning and at 1:00 go to the Rockaway Library for a reading sponsored by OWC. Poet, Judy Massee will moderate readings by Shannon Applegate and other authors.
