Midnight Beach, by Kay Jennings

American Bluebeard: Lies and Dead Wives by Alene Reaugh

Alene Reaugh Alene Reaugh is the author of a new book, American Bluebeard: Lies and Dead Wives, a work of true-crime nonfiction published by BookBaby.

This is the story of an American Bluebeard whose crimes at the turn of the twentieth century affected over fifty women. The story reveals the plight of his victims and the fate of the fiend that cruelly annihilated them.

He ran lonely hearts ads in local newspapers. He married as many as 50 women altogether, and after extracting their money, killed at least 22, and abandoned many more. He got away with it for twenty years until one suspicious wife brought him down.

Caroline Kurtz wins Best First Book from Presbyterian Writers Guild

Caroline Kurtz received the Best First Book from the Presbyterian Writers Guild for her memoir A Road Called Down on Both Sides: Growing up in Ethiopia and America.

Caroline Kurtz, a missionary kid who from age 5 grew up in Ethiopia with her parents and siblings, has been named winner of the Presbyterian Writers Guild’s biennial Best First Book Award for the best first book by a Presbyterian author written during 2018-19. The Best First Book Award is co-sponsored by the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation and comes with a $500 cash prize. Her sister, Jane Kurtz, was also awarded the Distinguished Writer award for 2020.

Unwanted Sister, by Sandra Denbo and Tamarine Vilar

Sandra Denbo and Tamara VilarSandra Denbo and Tamarine Vilar are co-authors of a new book, Unwanted Sister, a young adult novel published by Book, Lamp & Chair, LLC.

Callie Cooper’s first important job as a P.I. has her traveling to Newport, Oregon, where her grandmother’s cousin has been arrested for murdering her husband. Callie’s uncle Rudy has been grooming her in the business; but since he is unavailable to help, he’s letting her use his old beach cabin while she works the case.

Last year, Gary, the boy next door, professed his love for her; and she’s still trying to sort out her feelings for him. And now he’s accompanying her to Newport.

In his Give-a-Gift-Twice campaign, and in support of the UPS Store Toys For Tots Literacy Program, for anyone who purchases DJ’s novel at the Stumptown Lit Book Fair on Dec. 7, DJ Schneider will donate a novel to Toys For Tots in their name.
