Martta Karol and Kate Dyer-Seeley will read at the Oct. 2, 2014, Rain or Shine Reading Series.
The series features writers reading published or unpublished works in an intimate coffee house setting.
Readings are Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rain or Shine Coffee House, 5941 S.E. Division St., in Portland.
Karol describes herself as at last ripe for writing in the wake of varied pursuits, adventures, and misadventures potentially yummy for the soup of storytelling. For added zest, she has a master’s in clinical psychology.
She is working on her first novel and writing short stories, essays, and articles, just beginning to submit pieces for publication, and recently launched a new website/blog, MarttaKarol.com.
After years lived in fascinating cities–Minneapolis, San Francisco, New York, Paris and Portland–Martta now happily resides in Vancouver, Wash.
Dyer-Seeley writes the Pacific Northwest Mystery Series for Kensington Publishing. The first book in the series, Scene of the Climb, features the rugged landscapes of the Columbia River Gorge and a young journalist who bills herself as an intrepid adventurer in order to land a gig writing for Northwest Extreme.
Dyer-Seely’s work has appeared in a variety of regional and international publications including The Columbian, The Vancouver Voice, The Oregonian, Portland Family Magazine, Seattle Backpacker Magazine, and Climbing Magazine.
Dyer-Seely lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and son, where you can find her hitting the trail, at an artisan coffee shop, or at her favorite pub. Better yet—at all three.
