Ann Littlewood won the 2014 OWC prize for short fiction with “The Owl on the Road to Medford,” later published in Calyx literary magazine. This is now the first of seven related stories that constitute a novella of the same name. Set in a wildlife rehabilitation clinic, these seven stories explore how people and animals affect each other and how an adventure of the heart can occur anywhere.
