If you are not planning to attend OWC’s Sylvia Beach Conference in Newport, you may consider attending another writing event on the beautiful Oregon Coast in Rockaway Beach the same weekend.
This year is the Second Annual Rockaway Writers Rendezvous Event, featuring the following workshops located in the Rockaway Community Church on Saturday, April 27th:
9:00 am “Organizing and Maintaining a Helpful Writing/Critique Group,” presented by Kizzie Jones
9:00 am “So You Want to Be a Writer,” presented by Randall Platt
10:00 am “Self Publishing Bootcamp,” presented by John Daily
10:00 am “Writing to Heal,” presented by Sydney Elliott
11:00 am “Poetry Poker with Ms. Clifton,” presented by David Pickering
11:00 am “Write for Readers, Edit for Submission,” presented by Holly Lorincz
11:00 am “Writing for Film: Creating Action Sequences,” presented by Dawn Seller
1:30 pm – Keynote Presentation “The Healing Power of Stories,” presented by Mark Yaconelli (90 minutes) in the Main Hall
3:00 pm “Writing for Young Adults,” presented by Randall Platt
3:00 pm “Ethical Use of AI,” presented by John Daily
4:00 pm “Play Writing Basics,” presented by Doug Sellers
4:00 pm “Writing As a Creative Practice,” presented by Isa De Quesada
On Friday and Saturday, April 26th & 27th, at 6:00 pm there will be open mic performances at The Tiebreaker for anyone who would like to sign up to perform an original song, poem, short story, or read an excerpt of a longer piece.
The weekend event will close on Sunday, April 28th, with a Networking Breakfast and Award Ceremony at The Lions Club from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
